  1. PowerPoint handling of large multimedia files when co-authoring

    The background:

Our customer has experienced a number of issues with co-authoring in PowerPoint. Issues such as the application freezing in the middle of a co-authoring session of 5 or more people, the ‘Auto-save’ switch at the top turning itself off, issues with files being duplicated on SPO with the system hostname appended to the filename.

The customer is a creative agency so they’re working with large, high quality multimedia elements in their presentations.

From the conversations we’ve had with our customer, it transpires that they aren’t the only company to have issues with PowerPoint co-authoring – so much so…

  3. SAME FEATURES for Mac as for Windows!

It would be helpful to have the same features in PowerPoint for Mac as for Windows. It should not be any different in the first place!
For the first time in my design career I have to create a template in PowerPoint! So my adventure the last couple of days is trying to understand the software and it's not user-friendly at all. Most of the tuts are for Windows and you know what... we Mac users miss out a few of good and helpful features... like grids and settings for grids. I found something like 'snap to grid' - but…

  4. Mac PowerPoint Tab-Theme (Slide Size 4:3 to 16:9)

In PowerPoint 2011 for Mac, I was able to change the size of the slide to 16:9 and all of my side content would stretch to fit. PowerPoint 2016 and newer only lets you change the slide size but the content stays the same. Can you add the option to let me stretch the slide to 16:9 and all the content stretch with the slide size. I use PowerPoint 2011 for this option only. I know I will not get to do this for much longer.

  5. PowerPoint for Designers

Microsoft's view of the Mac world is upside down. A huge proportion of corporate presentations are created by designers using Macs. But the Mac version of PowerPoint is a lame, tame, minimal version of what's available in Windows.
Microsoft would better serve their corporate user base if they created an industrial-strength version of PowerPoint for MacOS that could not only do all the operations of the Windows version, but surpass it. Custom table styles! 9 levels of text in text boxes! SuperTheme creation! Custom Effects Themes (Shape Styles)! Custom SmartArt! All of these are possible with the current file format,…

  6. Sharper slide images on Notes Pages

PowerPoint 2011 had sharp vector images of slides appearing on Notes Pages. In 2016 and 2019, that good code was tossed out and the slide images are now blurry and unreadable bitmaps. Please bring back the vector images.

  7. Advanced Animation Timeline

Why is the Advanced Animation Timeline feature still not available in the latest version of Powerpoint for Mac? It's been available for PC s since 2016.

  8. Why? WHY did you get rid of the animation timeline for PowerPoint 2019 for the mac??? Why???

I work with clients on PC, and some refer to that animation timeline in regards to having a visual representation of how their animations are coming together. Why in god's name would you not include this on the Mac? It makes absolutely no sense, and I've had to revert to Keynote for other clients who have had the same issues and are done with PowerPoint.

  11. Add "Image Size and Quality" option setting to PowerPoint for Mac

The PC version of Powerpoint allows you to control "Image Size and Quality" for the presentation. The three options available are Discard editing data, Do not compress images in file, and a setting for Default resolution. Please add these options to the Mac version of Powerpoint.

Our use case is that we create very visual heavy presentations. These presentations quickly become unwieldy in a collaborate setting, reaching 300MB, 400MB, or 500MB in size. This is due to raw images being uploaded. Having the option to set a default resolution so files are compressed to a standard quality on the way…

  12. Reading View in PowerPoint for Mac

PowerPoint for Windows has Reading view which is like Presenter view with the title bar and the task bar. The good thing about Reading view is that you can have multiple windows open, and you can also have two presentations with Reading view open in two different displays, thus affording an amazing way to compare before and after slides. PowerPoint for Mac still does not have this view.

You can learn more about Reading view at https://www.indezine.com/products/powerpoint/learn/interface/365/reading-view.html

  15. Automatically create ALT Text from IPTC data in file like in the caption field or other field

I realize Powerpoint creates Alt Text based on what it sees in an image but this is not very accurate. I would like a way to have PP import the Caption (or other IPTC field that might be chosen) from the image automatically.

  16. Add CMYK picture warnings

When many clients build presentations on the Mac, it allows them to insert images in the CMYK color space. They do NOT translate well to PC and either don't display or display poorly. Provide a warning that the image is CMYK and offer to convert to RGB.

  17. Add options to the Change Picture dialog box

When using the "Change Picture" option to replace a picture, allow choices like:
    • Fit image to the current crop
    • Match current height
    • Match current width

  18. Would it be possible in powerpoint to allow the use to enter multiple slide and photos in the insert mode as well as the PC version does.

When making a long sideshow on the mac version it only allowers you to enter one side or one photo at a time. This really adds time to the build-up of presentations. It works so well on a pc. When using the album insert

  19. Play Embedded Videos on Slide when Exported to Video

If you have a presentation that is exported to a video that contains embedded video on a slide that's set to play automatically after exporting the presentation to an MOV or MP4, the embedded video does not play. Any animations you've made do play but the video does not. Videos do play automatically when your watching your presentation in slideshow mode but not after exporting it to an MOV.

Videos set to play automatically do do so when exporting to video on Windows but this feature doesn't exist on the Macintosh. Thank you!

  20. Use two adjacent letters for keystrokes to compress with one finger

If you put 2 adjacent keys into keystrokes it makes it possible for one finger to press two keys with one finger. Group command uses Option and Command and these are side by side and one finger can quickly compress them.

And allow users to make customs keystrokes to fit the special needs of the user.
