  1. Advanced Animation Timeline

Why is the Advanced Animation Timeline feature still not available in the latest version of Powerpoint for Mac? It's been available for PC s since 2016.

  2. Bring back "Reuse slide" and allow formatting options when inserting slides

In Office for Mac 2011 (and for current Windows Users) one can choose to reuse a single slide (or 2, 3 etc) from another presentation and retain the original formatting. No more! With 2016 the user is forced to add ALL slides from the secondary presentation - and the formatting is automatically changed, too. For example, if you need 2 slides from a 100 slide presentation, all 100 slides are inserted and all formatting auto-changed to the receiving presentation. This renders the feature virtually useless and costs users a ton of time that wasn't previously required. The Microsoft Tech team…

  3. PowerPoint handling of large multimedia files when co-authoring

    The background:

Our customer has experienced a number of issues with co-authoring in PowerPoint. Issues such as the application freezing in the middle of a co-authoring session of 5 or more people, the ‘Auto-save’ switch at the top turning itself off, issues with files being duplicated on SPO with the system hostname appended to the filename.

The customer is a creative agency so they’re working with large, high quality multimedia elements in their presentations.

From the conversations we’ve had with our customer, it transpires that they aren’t the only company to have issues with PowerPoint co-authoring – so much so…

  4. Layers and locks.

Please add the ability to show/hide layers, as on any other design program. Also the ability to lock/unlock an item to avoid when group selecting. Use InDesign, and learn.

  5. Please add ability to customize Apple Touch Bar for PPT. It would be great to be able to include forward and back arrows

Apple Touch Bar is now supported for PowerPoint, but there is no capability to customize the Touch Bar. We need this ability to fully exploit PowerPoint with Touch Bar, particularly when using it with the new Sidecar capability. Particularly useful would be the ability to include Forward and Backward keys on the Touch Bar so that a PowerPoint presentation could be advanced (from one slide to the next, or backward) by using the Touch Bar when the presentation is being shown on an iPad that is being used in Side Car mode.

  6. Powerful features for designers using PPT

Please have your developers use and become proficient at a basic graphic design program. Graphic designers by and large are your primary users and happen to use software that has a designer's logic to it. Powerpoint's basic functionality and workflow consistently ignores this "best practice" development approach and causes so many discontinuities (read: Frustration) that if it wasn't so maddening it would be laughable. That said, there are some basic things that would make the program more user friendly:

    1. Bezier curves: This is a extremely critical function! Illustrator provides fine controls that makes curves easy and quick to do -…

  7. Adding a history toolbar drop down menu for last 10-15 commands / actions

In creating slides for an image filled teaching lecture would like to access my last actions because they usually repeat for each slide I make. I think a drop down button showing last options would be useful to me. Once there was a box with image manager where size, position, crop were on in one place

  10. Customize Theme Fonts in Design tab & Slide Master experience

You can set your own fonts in text boxes created as part of Slide Masters in a template. However, you can't set the default fonts for the template as a whole, as you can on Windows.

So, when someone using the template adds a new text box to a slide the font defaults to a different font (Calibri as standard).

On Windows, the option of 'Customise Fonts' is in the 'Fonts' dropdown on the Slide Master tab.

  11. Retain AltText when saving as PDF

When saving as PDF PowerPoint Mac does not include Alternative Text for objects. Windows PowerPoint does include these tags. To make PDFs made with PowerPoint Mac accessible, AltText tags must be retained when saving as PDF.

  12. Remove SVG Ungroup Alert

Whenever I convert an SVG to Shape, I always get the Popup that says
"This is an imported picture, not a group. Do you want to convert it to a Microsoft Office drawing object?"

Which I then have to click Yes on all the time. Seems like an unecessary popup and is an annoyance.

  13. Create "Powerpoint PRO"...a version for power users

Create a supercharged version of Powerpoint that has features strictly for design professionals. So a lot of these things that we're clamoring for (advanced timeline, locking layers, Adobe like features) can be built into this release, leaving the "non-pro" version to remain easy to use for everyday users. I'd buy it!

  14. Mac PowerPoint Tab-Theme (Slide Size 4:3 to 16:9)

In PowerPoint 2011 for Mac, I was able to change the size of the slide to 16:9 and all of my side content would stretch to fit. PowerPoint 2016 and newer only lets you change the slide size but the content stays the same. Can you add the option to let me stretch the slide to 16:9 and all the content stretch with the slide size. I use PowerPoint 2011 for this option only. I know I will not get to do this for much longer.

  15. Sharper slide images on Notes Pages

PowerPoint 2011 had sharp vector images of slides appearing on Notes Pages. In 2016 and 2019, that good code was tossed out and the slide images are now blurry and unreadable bitmaps. Please bring back the vector images.

  16. Reading View in PowerPoint for Mac

PowerPoint for Windows has Reading view which is like Presenter view with the title bar and the task bar. The good thing about Reading view is that you can have multiple windows open, and you can also have two presentations with Reading view open in two different displays, thus affording an amazing way to compare before and after slides. PowerPoint for Mac still does not have this view.

You can learn more about Reading view at https://www.indezine.com/products/powerpoint/learn/interface/365/reading-view.html

  17. Make tagged PDF when saving as PDF

When saving as PDF, PowerPoint should make a tagged PDF where heading rules are automatically observed. There must always be a heading 1 tag. Heading tags must be sequential.

  18. No-fill data point markers on line charts should knock out to background color

Currently, when you have a marker on a line chart with a reasonable size, with a marker stroke but no marker fill, it shows the line intersecting the midpoint of the marker. Preferably, the lines would join to the outside of the marker, not the middle of the marker. Either that or have the marker fill knock out to the slide BG.

  19. Paste a PDF image into PowerPoint, save it, close the file, and then reopen it to improve the compression of the image.

    (1) Even if the [Image quality] item is set to [Use original quality] in [Compress diagram], if you save the file with an image attached, the image will be compressed.
PowerPoint for mac : No events occurred at 15.xx.
PowerPoint for mac: I want the Use original quality setting to take effect on 16.xx.

PowerPoint for mac : 15.xx When you save and avoid it, the resolution of the image decreases when you print it.) Don't lower the resolution when printing.

  20. Add "Image Size and Quality" option setting to PowerPoint for Mac

The PC version of Powerpoint allows you to control "Image Size and Quality" for the presentation. The three options available are Discard editing data, Do not compress images in file, and a setting for Default resolution. Please add these options to the Mac version of Powerpoint.

Our use case is that we create very visual heavy presentations. These presentations quickly become unwieldy in a collaborate setting, reaching 300MB, 400MB, or 500MB in size. This is due to raw images being uploaded. Having the option to set a default resolution so files are compressed to a standard quality on the way…
