Layers and locks.
Please add the ability to show/hide layers, as on any other design program. Also the ability to lock/unlock an item to avoid when group selecting. Use InDesign, and learn.
Please add a lock layer/object feature for Mac and PC! You are way behind any other layout program.
LOCK OBJECT OPTION!!! LOCK OBJECT OPTION!!! LOCK OBJECT OPTION!!!... and also no automatic shadow on objects please!!!!
Yes I second the request for this much needed function – it's basic and it's long overdue!!!

I'm probably going to open another suggestion, but this is close to what I'm looking for. I need to protect/lock elements in a slide so that others can't edit the content. This is to comply with the use and distribution of files (such as vector images from FreePic.com) which don't allow you to distribute their content without it being locked for editing - a serious problem for template resources we develop and distribute to colleges in Scotland.
Please add the lock layer/object feature for Mac and PC!

Guides currently support three different layers. Slides, individual Slide Layouts and the Slide Master. So you can add guides to the layout or slide master and these cannot be accidentally dragged when in the Normal view. We are about to launch an add-in within May (2018) that will do this for you. Here's a sneak preview: https://twitter.com/YOUpresentUK/status/991109119603068929
The ability to define and apply several typographic styles to a single text box.
For example, I want a text box that ensures the content will always vertically align in a master template slide. And in that text box, I want the user to be able to use headlines, sub-headlines, hr rules, lists, or custom defined type treatments.
I really don't understand this request... Can you clarify?

Putting design elements over a placeholder image is a feature regulary asked by clients. More layering would be very nice.

Mac and PC!
Please!!! Easy to do and hard to live without. Just add a lock toggle to the Selection Pane, that would do nicely.

We have an issue designing powerpoint templates: When you put an objet in front of a placeholder in the template, it appears behind the placeholder in the presentation.
The capacity of blocking the position of an object in the template allow keep the same design in the template and the presentation, even when you use an object in front of a placeholder.
Between not being able to lock guides and not being able to lock objects... I
m surprised this product is still used! Seems like such basic capability to me to still be absent.
I agree with the above. Found PLENTY of forums, posts, complaints about this dating back to turn of the century -- COME ON Microsoft!! Get with it. This has been a complaint since the beginning of Powerpoint (I've been using PPT since early-mid 1990's)
HINT: NOBODY want guides that move all over the place while they are working! Its a huge time-waster and causing me to have to rest guides and elements every other frikken page! Or should we all just switch to other software.
Make locking place, size of text boxes available with locked font attributes.
Creating corporate, global templates (that not get accidentally "redesigned" by non-Powerpoint specialists) would be possible. This is a real issue at my company.

I'm a professional PowerPoint designer in NYC, so I use it every day. Would be great if you could do the following. (btw -- the new update - is a lot better!)
1. Lock items
2. Be able decrease character spacing less than 1.0
3. Be able to make more than one picture transparent at the same time
4. Get rid of the default setting that increases the size of the slide sorter view (in the left hand bar) - I don't want to reset this every time I design a deck
5. When cropping an image into a shape - make the cropping tool open so you can continue to resize it and not have to click it twice
6. Sometimes the slide sorter restarts at the top of the deck when you're formatting at the bottom of the deck - please remove this
7. Add in a copy style feature (like in Keynote) -- I don't have time to format everything in the Master

In Keynote, you can lock items so they won't move. Can you implement that in PowerPoint?
Give us the ability to lock a shape's
Position, Size, Grouping, Rotation, Selection, Text Editing, Shape Type, Editing Points, Arrowheads, Adjust Handles. Be certain to include the ability to UN-lock those shapes as well. This is much needed for editing contents of a PPT slide.
Please make the guides lockable so that they aren't continually moved whenever trying to resize an object whose handles are near the guides.
