  1. Resume for Office Applications

Intro: For almost 5 years, since Apple released Mac OS X Lion in July 2011), Mac users enjoyed "Resume" feature that enables applications to re-open in exactly the same state as before quitting the application or restarting the system, including window positions and contents of unsaved files.

Problem: Lack of the "Resume" feature is what makes me dread logging off and restarting Windows. Especially when I have multiple Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents open in different virtual desktops on two monitors - having to re-create this setup after the restart is really annoying.

Suggestion: I suggest Microsoft implements this functionality…

Isn't it about time that the slide sorter was made more sophisticated. I would like to be able to cluster slides into groups so that I can readily switch topic according to my audience needs. Would be nice to be able to do this via buttons at the bottom or side of my presentation (like you often see on websites.

      • Allow "Save As" function to select any folder, rather than the few root folders and few recent folders.

Because I can't save to the folder I want, I have to clutter my desktop (one of the root folders listed) with files to be saved elsewhere. Makes a mess, causes extra steps killing productivity, and is lame to begin with.

        • sorter view

When you click on a slide in sorter view on the Mac it adds a slide. It would be better if it went to the more detailed view as it does on the Windows version.

          • VBA Object Model Bug in CustomLayout

There appears to be an issue in the CustomLayout object model.

When typing this in the Immediate window:

            ?activepresentation.slides(1).

IntelliSense gives up but if I continue typing to here:

            ?activepresentation.slides(1).customlayout.

ItelliSence kicks in again. However, the real issue is that this returns a value as expected:

            ?activepresentation.slides(1).customlayout.Shapes.Placeholders(1).PlaceholderFormat.ContainedType

But this fails with a runtime error -2147483640 PlaceholderFormat (unknown member) even though the property is shown in IntelliSense and the enum exists for .type = :

            ?activepresentation.slides(1).customlayout.Shapes.Placeholders(1).PlaceholderFormat.type

The code works as expected on various PC versions of PowerPoint.

            • open pp2011 with pp2016

I just upgraded from 2011 to 2016, and I face the problem to open my ppt 2011 with 2016, and it is only for the PP.
It is find for excel and word.

I presume there is a setting problem; could someone know about to solve this issue. Thanks

                • Allow ungrouping of charts for powerful design

It used to be possible with Powerpoint for the Mac to ungroup charts from Excel. This was a crucial power feature to customize and design charts beyond the fixed default format of Excel. A very useful function indeed.

Unfortunately, this is no longer possible on the Mac even though using the Enhanced Metafile format it still seems to work on Windows.

Bring back chart ungrouping, so we can make professional and personal charts again using Powerpoint. Excel and PPT formats are too limited and don't satisfy the requirements of many companies and publishers. Re-enabling chart ungrouping would make Office much…

                    • Add the functionality to use the iPhone or iPad as remote

Apple's Keynote makes it possible to use the iPhone as a remote and the iPad is the presentation device, for example. In PowerPoint, there is !no! possibility to use a device as a remote, and I think, this function should have been integrated much versions earlier! So please, implement it! It's really important to make a good presentation and I don't want to use third-party apps!

                      • Edit and Delete Custom Colors

When I create a custom palette and want to tweak one color and re-save, I have to create a new palette, so I just end up with multiple similar palettes which is not very helpful to remember which one is correct.

I'm newer to Powerpoint, but it seems in previous versions you had the ability to edit these palettes or delete them entirely. I'd like to go back to having that capability.

                        • better color palette management and more color choices

Right now the ability to work with a color palette are very limited. would be great to be able to make it more intuitive to have a color palette open on and enable an easy tints or color scheme dialog.

                          • Restore the open files from the previous session

Have the Office apps automatically restore previously open files when reopening the app (maybe I'm doing something wrong?).

                            • Open an excel file without exit from the presentation mode

In a slide you can insert a file excel/word but in the presentation mode you are not able to double click on it to open it.
You must exit from presentation mode, open the file and than come back again in the presentation mode.
During the business meeting I believe that it could be very smart to open the attach file in an embedded mode

                              • Length of spell check wavy line

In PP the red spell check line only appears as on short red ^ in front of the first letter. It does not underline the whole word as in Word. Not sure if this is another El Capitan glitch but it makes spell checking while you type difficult.

                                  • I wish you just had a SAVE PDF button that one could press on the ribbon.

Please reinstate the "Save as PDF" from the "Save As" options list. Or even better just put it on the ribbon.

                                      • Default gutter (space between columns) for columned text box need to be .5" or anything other than 0".

No reason ever for someone to use columned text with a 0" gutter. It always has to be manually changed.

                                        • The tilt wheel on my mouse should scroll left and right

I design a lot of complex slides where I need to stage content outside the active slide area. In Powerpoint 2011 I could use the tilt wheel on my mouse to scroll left and right to view that content, but in 2016 tilting my scroll wheel left or right advances down through my slides. I don't know if this is an enhancement so much as a fix.
