Lock placeholder and other objects to prevent modification
Lock placeholder and objects and its preferences so they cant be modified in any way. Also make option to autofit och manually crop the added items like images to image placeholder.
Lock dont need to be permanent. But if you want to undo the lock you have to rightclick on object and "unlock".
Why do we need this? To create templates that follow certain guidelines and rules that your company, organisation, school etc have. This would prevent the user to accidently move an object on the created presentation or tutorial.
We are happy to announce that this is currently in the works! :) Thanks for voting for this idea. Stay tuned for more details.
PowerPoint 365 needs to be able to unlock shapes and lock them so they can not be moved. In the Design ideas that are created after being selected, I find shapes being locked and we are not able to unlock them! Many times we need to have the ability to move those shapes (Selection Pane shows them but you are not able to move the shapes, they are locked). You can make them invisible, change the fill colors etc. but not move the shapes or resize them etc. The design suggestions is a good idea, but when things get locked, it limits the user to move things around to make the idea that much better.
Yes please fix this its driving me insane. most free slide makers on webware let you do this!!
Please add a feature that allows users to lock elements on the page in a way other than making it part of the background.
Finally a please to give software feedback - THANKS
its only be 20+ years
and the same applies for the ability to Lock an object so it does't get moved
A most basic requirement when laying out slides -
It is sort of incredible that this would not be so obvious to the MS developers
[don't they use what they design?]
People have been asking for this feature since the early 2000's. Maybe in another decade Microsoft?

Lock a shape on a slide - to stop accidentally moving it ! (without going into Slidemaster)
A suggestion I use is you can add the object as a background for that slide - but this will only work on objects in the back.
I used to be able to lock objects in Freehand in the early 2000's - no excuse!

Working with objects int he background is a real pain as it keeps selecting them.
It's ridiculous that we even have to ask for this

I 15th this suggestion. Maybe soft-patch it in? It shouldn't be hard... fingers crossed!

We desperately need this! No more time wasted on re-positioning pics and shapes you have accidentally selected and moved. Give us the lock feature, please!
Please add this to Mac and PC versions. The XML code already exists!
I use powerpoint to create research posters that have lots of images, text boxes, graphs, etc that need to be spaced & aligned perfectly for printing in large format. It is so easy to accidentally move something while working on other areas of the poster. A lock feature would be SO HELPFUL to avoid this!
Yes please fix this!!!!!
Seriously. HOW is this not a feature???
Every single other presentation program has this....
Please add this feature. I've used it several time in Keynote since 2007 and recently started using PowerPoint. I realize that by creating a template you can lock elements, but that's not very user friendly. Suggest: right click element > lock
PLEEEEEAAAASSEEE add this feature!!
Please! Add a lock toggle to the Selection Pane so we can lock objects/groups. This is so easy to do, yet so hard to live without.
It drives me CRAZY that you can't lock things in place. Slides are so small and selecting the exact thing when you have a frequent overlap is annoying at best. Please Please make a lock feature!
