Lock placeholder and other objects to prevent modification
Lock placeholder and objects and its preferences so they cant be modified in any way. Also make option to autofit och manually crop the added items like images to image placeholder.
Lock dont need to be permanent. But if you want to undo the lock you have to rightclick on object and "unlock".
Why do we need this? To create templates that follow certain guidelines and rules that your company, organisation, school etc have. This would prevent the user to accidently move an object on the created presentation or tutorial.
We are happy to announce that this is currently in the works! :) Thanks for voting for this idea. Stay tuned for more details.
THIS IS A MUST HAVE FEATURE!!!! WHY IS THIS NOT AVAILABLE ALREADY??? IT'S 2017 FOR GOD'S SAKE!!!!

yes, we need "lock" functionality to prevent shapes/images from moving around.
This feature would be fantastic for our corporate templates! Would be great to have a locked text box that users can still enter text into, but they can't change the size or location.

Thank you for submitting this. Couldn't have put it better. We need to be able to lock down some company brand elements for the majority of our PowerPoints.
Thank you for submitting this, it seems very important to be able to maintain graphic requirements.
My take on the topic :
- A picture placeholder should be customizable to only allow the user to chose from a selection of pictures
- Smart art placeholder should be able to only allow one type of smart art...
The use for me would be in having people use branded templates. Elements of the template could be locked into place and the people using the template would be able to edit the content as needed. It would help with consistency when there are many authors.
It would be similar to the Formatting Restrictions in Word.

Stephan, there are a number of crop options on Windows PPT also. Insert a picture into the picture placeholder, then click the CROP button on the Picture Tools tab. You can move the picture and resize it within the crop frame. You can also use Crop to Fit and Crop to Fill options to change how the image is cropped. (Yes, it would be nice to be able to set these options on the placeholder itself.)

Also let us be able to put option to
*Keep original size
on the image placeholder.
Like its on the Mac version. There the image keep its original size and you manually have to move the image and resize it inside the placeholder.
