Position guides by the numbers
let us type in a number to position the guides rather than only being able to drag them into place. Sometimes that's too fiddly.
This, and as someone said below, ditch the 'from center' rulers and have left to right/top to bottom rulers for countries which usually do thing in this order. The ability to select multiple guides at once would also be fantastic (especially when it comes to deleting dozens of them set up by someone else!!)

Just move the guide to roughly where you want it and zoom in. You can then easily move it to the exact number you want - realise this isn't as convenient as typing the numbers in, but when zoomed, it's very easy to move it where you want (holding the Alt key gives you more precise guide movement)

While Microsoft look at this request, it's now possible to set up guides using a "familiar" mechanism to designers by specifying the number of rows, columns, gutter and margins using an add-in called YOUtools. See it in action here : http://youpresent.co.uk/office-add-ins/youtools-for-powerpoint/#guides

and avoid the guides to disappear when we go out the slide
And PLEASE, ditch the current "measured from center" coordinate system and let us specify guide coordinates from left/top. Like EVERYTHING else in PPT is measured.

Well you got votes for that rather quickly!

That would be an awesome time saver!
