Shortcut for Pan
Need a short cut key for panning just like for zoom. Hold down key, enables pan hand, left click grabs slide, and you can pan around.
Why has this never been incorporated?
Pan is a mandatory feature!
I am wondering why it is not implemented yet.
This is a MANDATORY feature. How does MS drop the ball SO hard? Im a student with a surface pro 7 and surface dial. I write all my notes on lecturers powerpoints. NO SCROLL LEFT RIGHT FEATURE?! And they dont even support their Surface dial for nearly anything. This should be embarrassing to MS. I guess this is why Apple is becoming more and more popular.
such a simple and useful feature that could have easily been added 3 years ago when this was originally suggested. still not a feature
the saddest thing....is this USED to be a features....i guess more time is spent investing on making thier icons and ribbon bar look cool instead of the actual functionality of the program....damn shame
maybe apple will improve the user experience....

The 'pan' issue is a very distinct 'issue'. However, no response from the MS PowerPoint team. What's up MS? Nothing to say?

We had the same issue with all the PPT limits and lack of design tools. We switched to MS Visio. It costs $20 a month but it has the tools we need.
The popular control combo for panning, that is seen across many MANY other applications, is (Ctrl + Middle Mouse + Move Mouse). It is very frustrating for a multi-application workflow to be hindered by the incontinuity of powerpoint not adopting similar panning controls, or any for that matter. Having to use the scroll bars at all makes a big project requiring fine attention to detail much more of a hassel. Come on Microsoft... this is really basic.
excellent...thank you very much

And stop scrolling between slides with mouse wheel. VERY annoying with a touch mouse!!! It doesn't behave this way on Mac.
I agree that this is absolutely needed.
As a workaround (works in pp 2016 - not sure others):
select an object before zooming in with ctrl-mouse-wheel and the zoom will centre on the selected object
Its really annoying that you have to use the scroll bars while zoomed in. Its so unecessary slow. Its a standard feature of every graphics creation tool, except ppt. This should be easy to implement.
PowerPoint is abused daily by office workers as a desktop publishing program. Panning around while zoomed in is really useful when working with the resulting poster-size "slides". While it's true that the pan part of pan & zoom *shouldn't* be necessary in PowerPoint and users should use a real desktop publishing program, PowerPoint will probably remain the average user's go-to publishing app for all eternity. Please add a pan tool to make this state of affairs less painful.
