Ability to run a video in the background over multiple slides
Configurable via a "Slide Master" setting
Sometimes it would be useful to be able to run a background video over multiple slides... such as award ceremonies etc.

Microsoft 365 should develop the capability to run video in the background across multiple slides

What is the timeline for this to be fixed in 2016? Any idea if it works in powerpoint 2019?

Can't believe you removed this function in the 2016 release. It was so easy previously. Is the issue being addressed at all?

Its 2019 and this is still an issue. I have set a video as a background hoping it will loop across a number of slides. It happens when I set it - but it covers the content of the slide or doesn't render it at all. Only the video.
Tried the slide master - same result.
Please fix this already. Video background on PPT is a trend we cannot match cause of this bug.

This functionality (sort of) exists in PowerPoint today. It has many limitations and issues, and only should be used in specific instances. A true video across slides, and seamless looping video, plus continuous video loop on Master Layout across slides are all needed to compete with other software options.
Here is a blog post I did last year on it: http://www.thepowerpointblog.com/video-across-slides/

This is a critical feature to compete with ProPresenter for the HOW market!

Highly recommend! Lets also include that with looped motion backgrounds that are playing in the back of the slides, will never restart and replay the looped motion backgrounds when you transition from one slide to the next. It should always be a smooth transition from one slide to the next without interrupting the looped motion backgrounds.
If Microsoft can implement this, MANY modern churches might switch back to Microsoft PowerPoint. Churches nowadays are using third-party software that can do this, but this is the one and only feature that PowerPoint is missing for churches. Think about the revenue that this would bring to the Microsoft company.

Would like to see the ability to play a single audio track across multiple slides, be able to select which slides it plays across continuously, which slides to pause and resume sound (incl. in the middle of the track)

I found the guide how to insert and play video across the slide from this link https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/bgp/2010/09/01/how-to-play-a-video-across-multiple-slides-in-powerpoint-2010/
but the problem is the video covers the other slides across the presentation slides. I've "send to back" but still played on top of the other slide. I inserted 10 minutes video in the first slide thinking to simultaneous play it as background for the rest of the slides without copying the same video and pasting to the next slide which started from the beginning of the video. I hope you can improve in the next Office update.

seamless looped static backgrounds would be fantastic, as currently the video restarts each slide (even with dynamic content transitions)
