  1. Problem with Digital laserpointer functionality in Powerpoint 2016 MSI version.

When we use the digital laserpoint in the powerpoint presenter view of the Office 2016 MSI version. With certain presentation when we move the mouse a lot in the presenter view screen and then ask for the next sllide. The computer seems to hang for a couple of seconnds. If you then ask multiple times for next slide we get even the application stopped responding. If you wait long enough the presentation continues. We don't have the issue with Office 365 version latest build. The OS we use is Windows 10 latest build. With the latest build of Office click…

  2. Lock an image or background image in place

Let me right click any object and lock it in place to avoid selection, movement and changes of any kind.

  3. New modern animations

It would be nice to have some new animations. For example, the 'erase' animation wipes it like gradient, but you can also add an option to erase it without gradient animation.

  4. Allow Custom Power Point Shape Library

When creating advanced infographics I would like to be able to save the objects in my own library for reuse in other presentations. Similar to quick parts in Word. Allow for the import and export of as well so complex shape objects can be shared.

  5. Add a feature to flag slides in the thumb nail view that required editing/updating. Could be a filterable flag or highlighted color

Add ability to flag slides that need to be updated. Extra credit if you can filter the flagged slides.

  6. Callouts with two or more pointers

If one callout box needs to refer two different areas, it is necessary to add a new entire callout and hide it underneath the initial box.

This could be solved by adding callouts with with more than one pointer.

  7. Do Not Require Checkout or Save As in Notes Page View for PowerPoint Files on SharePoint

Our organization recently moved to a full SharePoint implementation replacing our File Server. When our users are accessing a PowerPoint saved to SharePoint and select View --> Notes Page Presentation View, PowerPoint (client install) prompts "Edits made in this view will be lost when saved to the server. Use Save As to create a copy and make changes."

I've read that this is due to Microsoft not supporting co-authoring for notes. Regardless, it creates unnecessary headache for our users to Save As a new file and then reversion into the previous file.

For now we're instructing our users to Check…

  8. A straight edge pull out of the rulers and glide across the slide, much like photoshop.

The existing guides are great but they are not easily moved. You have to delete and add another if you need another edge elsewhere. This would be a straightedge, much like the old drafters table, that you can grab and move around as needed to quickly check or set alignments. To pull out the guide, you could click inside the ruler and drag down (or across for a vertical edge) and unclick when you get it where you want it. Once in place, you should be able to grab it again to move it around.

  9. Start YouTube Video from Presenter view, not only on the presentation screen

When displaying a PowerPoint file with a YouTube video in it, you should be able to click on the video in Presenter View to start the video displaying on the presentation screen. Currently I have to move the mouse over to the presentation screen and click on the video there. This can be awkward when the screen is behind me.

  10. Provide full equation editor, as available in Word

The equation editor of Powerpoint doesn't have feature parity with the Word equation editor. Notable examples include:

    - Ability, to change alignment of matrix columns
    - Ability to align multiple equations by equals sign
    - Support for "LaTeX" input method of equations

The first two come down to “cannot achieve same presentation quality Powerpoint as in Word”.

Overall, as a user I perceive "equation editor" as a single feature of the Office suite; It should work the same way in all MS Office programs, where it is available.

  11. Link to contents of another document stored in Sharepoint

I'd like to be able to link to portions of a document stored in Sharepoint, and have those update in the presentation when the source document changes.
For example, I would have an Excel spreadsheet pulling data from a database and creating a chart. I'd then copy that chart and paste it into PowerPoint (Paste special, paste link, Microsoft Excel Worksheet Object). Then anytime the Excel file updates the presentation would update as well.

  13. Powerpoint - set color blending mode to 'multiply'

    Dear PowerPoint mods

I think you underrate PPT as a design tool. It's bloody good.

One thing that would take it to the next level though is if you'd implement 'multiply' as a color blending mode.

This would be truly amazing. You've already got a ton of other powerful design features like boolean operations, EMF file integration etc etc, but what you're missing is 'multiply'.

This would change lots of designers lives who use PPT on the reg.

    Sincerely

    Ben

  16. Easy way to widen the size of a Flowchart design

Right now, what we can do is to select each component of the Flowchart to widen it without overlapping some of its contents or to save a Flowchart as an image and insert it again on a slide. This could be a lot of work for some of us especially if we are working on a large presentation. Please find a way so we can do it easier and in timely manner. Thanks!

  17. Performance issue in displaying Shapes list in PowerPoint (Version 1811)

In Windows 7, PowerPoint (Version 1811), icons are renewed, takes much longer to display shape lists than older version such as Version 1807.

    My testing is following.

    Windows 7 + New icon in Office 365 ProPlus (Version 1811) : 2.0 sec
    Windows 7 + Old icon in Office 365 ProPlus (Version 1807) : 0.5 sec

    Windows 10 + New icon in Office 365 ProPlus (Version 1811) : 1.0 sec
    Windows 10 + Old icon in Office 365 ProPlus (Version 1807) : 0.8 sec

  19. Put the EYE icon on the LEFT in the Selection Pane

If the space allocated to the selection pane is small or a shape has a long name, the EYE icon on the right can get pushed out of view and becomes inaccessible. Put the icon on the left and the problem disappears.

  20. In presenter view, the laser pointer should be hidden when a pen stops hovering

Using a pen (like the Surface pen) as a laser pointer within presenter view is very useful. However, when I want to stop pointing, I have to move the pen out of the slide area, or touch the screen outside the slide area. Instead, when using a pen, the laser pointer should be hidden when the pen stops hovering (i.e. is removed from the screen by more than about a centimeter).
