Layers are _not_ necessary. Microsoft simply needs to respect the master stacking order on the slide, that's all. Here are 4 workarounds until this gets fixed: http://www.brandwares.com/bestpractices/2019/08/logos-over-photos-best-practices/

Does Microsoft want to continue into the 21st century? Wake up to one of the most commonly asked for changes on answers.microsoft.com: The stacking order on the Master and Layout must also apply to the slide! Duh!

In all versions of PowerPoint, an image placeholder stacked behind an autoshape on a slide layout will display the placeholder stacked above the autoshape on a slide. The stacking or z-order of layout placeholders and shapes should be displayed the same way on slides.

This one is easy. Create one or more additional Slide Masters.

This is why PowerPoint includes VBA: so you can write a macro that updates all presentations in a folder.

Not a bug. If you can't see all the fonts, you have a problem with your installation of the program.

You can lock shapes by editing the XML. No need to prevent viewing, since the shapes are not editable. Here's how: http://www.brandwares.com/bestpractices/2016/09/xml-hacking-locking-graphics/

PowerPoint already does this. In the layout, uncheck Footers, then recheck it. Voila! It's reset!

If slide masters get added, it's because the template was poorly designed. Here's an explanation: http://www.brandwares.com/bestpractices/2018/11/legacy-slides-brandwares-best-practices/

Is Office open-sourced or not? Open it up, if you want (or need) participation for the programming community.

Posting a .ppsx file should automatically launch it in PowerPoint Online. There's no good reason for any other behavior. Duh.

Chart Templates allow you to preformat a chart the way you like it, then easily reuse that format. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/save-a-custom-chart-as-a-template-259a5f9d-a9ec-4b3f-94b6-9f5e55187f2a?ui=en-us&rs=en-us&ad=us Unfortunately, it doesn't handle subtitles.

A well-designed corporate presentation template will use the same color theme across all departments.

Office 2008 and 2011 for Mac included a SmartArt Graphics folder for new Glox files. You removed this, please restore it.

A zoom animation will do this, no new feature required.

The existing Slide Master and Layouts setup is already a challenge for most users. Making it more complicated will not help. Instead, create separate slide masters for the color variants, or hack the layout XML to create a layout with a different color sequence. Here's how: http://www.brandwares.com/bestpractices/2018/12/xml-hacking-layout-color-variations-for-charts/

As an add-in developer, I disagree with this suggestion. It shouldn't be any easier to view the code than it now is.

I have every version installed back to PowerPoint 2004 for Mac. It's never been in the Mac version, only in the Windows edition. But I agree, it needs to be added.

This is pretty easy to do with the program as it is. Create 2 decks, one that loops, another that is the main deck. Put a hyperlink or action button on all the looping slides, with the link opening the main file.
