Since background transparency can be set on the slide, layout and master, it would make sense to support transparent slide export and with the latest version of PowerPoint that supports the export to animated GIF, this request makes even more sense. The current implementation falls back to using the theme’s Background 1 colour (either Light 1 or Dark 1 based on the background style).

I know this is old and not a direct solution but you can use Ctrl+Z to undo accidental slide deletion and Ctrl+D to duplicate or Ctrl+M to create a new slide.

BrightCarbon built this feature into their free add-in called BrightSlide. The feature is called Match Size and will do what you need when a single picture object is selected. You can get it here: https://www.brightcarbon.com/brightslide/

And stop scrolling between slides with mouse wheel. VERY annoying with a touch mouse!!! It doesn't behave this way on Mac.

While Microsoft look at this request, it's now possible to set up guides using a "familiar" mechanism to designers by specifying the number of rows, columns, gutter and margins using an add-in called YOUtools. See it in action here : http://youpresent.co.uk/office-add-ins/youtools-for-powerpoint/#guides

The native PowerPoint Slide Size dialog should have the option to change between cm/inches/pixels (points). It's crazy that I have to go into Windows Settings to change the UoM (Units of Measurement) to set up presentations in cm or inches. In the meantime, I wrote an add-in that allows me to see the presentation's size in the Guides Layout dialog: http://youpresent.co.uk/office-add-ins/youtools-for-powerpoint/

Guides currently support three different layers. Slides, individual Slide Layouts and the Slide Master. So you can add guides to the layout or slide master and these cannot be accidentally dragged when in the Normal view. We are about to launch an add-in within May (2018) that will do this for you. Here's a sneak preview: https://twitter.com/YOUpresentUK/status/991109119603068929

We can't create an animated GIF from animated slides but at YOUpresent, we are about to release a PPT2GIFa add-in that is designed to help you make animated GIF images from PowerPoint. This is not the same design need as the request in this question so we vote for Microsoft to add this too. You can get the free add-in here : http://youpresent.co.uk/free-stuff/free-ppt2gif-converter/
